Melissa & Paul’s Wedding: Lionscrest Manor – 6/8/2013

The Hippie Limo - Denver & Boulder's Premier Retro-Mod Vintage Ride     Melissa and Paul’s wedding set a Hippie Limo record for a booking from the farthest point on the globe – the Middle East! Hats off to Melissa who planned her entire Lyons, Colorado wedding while serving in Kuwait! Melissa and Paul met in Kuwait where Melissa is a Paramedic and Paul is a Firefighter. Given the overlap of their professions and the limits of their shared geography it seems fated that the two would meet and fall in love. Even the casual observer can tell that their personalities (which are in equal measure graceful and goofy) were tailor made to egg-on and support one another (see the photos below).

When the couple boarded the Hippie Limo at the beautiful Lionscrest Manor, their adoring relatives and friends sent up wave after wave of cheers as they posed from the 5-foot, open-air sunroof. Their photographer, the inventive and profoundly talented Beth Sanders of Beth Photography, documented the couple’s every smiling moment in our WayBack Machine before departure. Soon we were headed down the switchbacks of the Manor’s winding dirt road toward the town of Lyons. The moment we reached the bottom Paul leaned forward and sheepishly asked me if we could head back up to the venue. It seems they had both forgotten their cell phones.

Roundabout we turned and the couple found themselves once again waving and smiling to their guests who were now making their own trips down the hill. Cell phones firmly in hand we began the Magic Carpet Ride to the couple’s temporary residence. As we drove, Melissa and Paul began removing and reading pieces of paper from a large, white bird cage that the wedding coordinator had tucked into our Samba prior to our first departure. The pieces of paper were notes of well-wishes and farewells that their guests had placed inside the cage prior to the ceremony. Occasionally I would hear a burst of laughter from the back, but mostly there were the sounds of appreciation and affection.

An hour later the two were exiting the Hippie Limo to prepare for what they called their “after party.” The newlyweds would be returning to Kuwait in just a few days and they wanted to relish every moment they would have with their family and friends. Our best wishes to the couple who crossed most of a globe and multiple time zones to be joined in what is sure to be a life of laughter and love.
