New Vista High School Prom at the Avalon Ballroom – 5/5/2012

The Hippie Limo - Denver & Boulder's Premier Retro-Mod RideI can’t imagine what Maddy, Tai, and MacKinna had in mind for their prom-night transportation prior to Maddy’s parents booking the Hippie Limo, but I would like to think that after experiencing a ride in our WayBack machine (a Way, Way, Way Back machine for them) that now they couldn’t imagine anything else.

An early evening pickup in South Boulder was followed by a quick jaunt up Highway 93 for some fantastic photographs with the Flatirons and the Boulder Valley as the backdrop. Several smile-filled shutter-clicks later we were heading back into town for a special dinner at Japango. As I dropped off the revelers I remarked to myself how they seemed to carry off a sense of both ease and occasion that I rarely see in prom-night teens. After their meal the trio was anxious to get to their prom which was being held at the Avalon Ballroom, so with an abbreviated cruise through Pearl Street in downtown Boulder we set our sites on the jewel of the evening.

Pulling into the parking lot the three noticed a couple dozen of their New Vista High School classmates milling about outside. The three began to laugh a bit nervously amongst themselves, uncertain what their friends might be thinking upon seeing them pull up in our magic bus. As it turns out they didn’t need to worry. One friend rushed up to greet them, commenting that “of course you would come in a hippie limo” while the remaining onlookers cheered. I opened the door to let Maddy, Tai, and MacKinna begin the real highpoint of their evening and one of the most memorable nights of their lives. As I slowly pulled out of the parking lot I set the sound system volume to “Crowd Pleaser” and played Quincy JonesSoul Bossa Nova (which many know as the theme song to the Austin Powers movies). All of those present burst into dance, peace signs, and shouts of “LOVE IT!” We’re not sure if they meant the song, our bus, or both, but whatever the case we are grateful to have been a part of everyone’s evening.

My friends and I had a great time rocking out in the Hippy Limo on the way to dinner and prom. We definately made a statement driving up to prom and it’s something we will remember forever!

The kids looked awesome as they drove away in the Hippy Limo to dinner and prom! Richard was very accomodating and made sure the kids understood the rules before heading out for the night. I recommend the Hippy Limo to others heading to prom or any other special occasion – it is certainly a memorable experience and lot’s of fun!
